The Stage Academy of Music partnership began with Rising Starr Middle School in 2013. In an effort to connect his music and recording studio meaningfully with the local school system, owner Brad Confer developed the RockFriday program to bridge the gap between the traditional music classroom and popular music. Through a partnership with the school’s choral department, weekly guest artists assisted students with learning rock tunes on a variety of instruments including the drums, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, and bass. The program grew to include a songwriting focus and the creation of a recording studio in a classroom.
The Stage Academy of Music continues to support the program, collaborating on RockFriday projects including performances for the Georgia Music Educators Association, the Georgia School Superintendents Association, and the choral department’s annual spring show.
